Nestled in the heart of Pembroke Pines, Char-Hut is a cherished American fast food gem that has proudly served its community for over three decades. Specializing in mouthwatering hamburgers and classic American fare, this family-owned restaurant is a haven for burger enthusiasts seeking freshly prepared, high-quality meals with authentic smoky flavors.
The star of the menu is undoubtedly the original CharBurger — a perfectly crafted 1/3 lb. burger made fresh daily from lean, never frozen beef, with no additives or fillers. Grilled to juicy perfection on a traditional CharBroiler, this burger offers a satisfying, tender bite that truly delivers on flavor without excess fat. For those with a heartier appetite, the Double Jr. CharBurger stacks two 1/6 lb. patties for a delightful layered experience. The Cowboy Burger takes indulgence up a notch, adorned with cheese, crispy bacon, and Char-Hut’s signature onion rings, with BBQ sauce suggested to complement the smoky richness — it’s a carnivore’s dream priced at US$14.99.
Beyond burgers, Char-Hut serves up classic all-beef hot dogs made by Sahlen's, like the Jr. CharDog and the traditional BigDog, both delivering that nostalgic, snappy bite that perfectly balances juicy savoriness with a light snap of the skinless casing. For sausage lovers, options include a satisfying 4 oz. coiled sausage or a double stack, grilled right before your eyes on the CharBroiler, offering a smoky, robust flavor that pairs beautifully with their robust American menu.
The dining atmosphere at Char-Hut reflects the warmth and familiarity of a true neighborhood staple. Guests describe it as more than just a restaurant—it's a place where friendly staff make you feel like family and where the food is crafted with care and authenticity. The fresh, made-to-order approach is evident the moment your burger is served: hot, juicy, bursting with bold flavors, and accompanied by crispy fries cooked just right.
Feedback from loyal customers paints a vivid picture of their experiences: "Great burgers… cooked to your taste," notes Sharon Franklin, who appreciates being able to order the Kid's Meal — a perfectly portioned option many adults also enjoy. Scot Spiwak praises the consistently fresh ingredients and the customizable nature of the menu, highlighting favorites like chicken sandwiches, cheesefries, and those iconic onion rings. Even decades-long patrons mourn the temporary closing of the Pembroke Pines location but eagerly anticipate its reopening, a testament to Char-Hut’s deep connection to the community.
While prices may lean toward the higher side, as Isaiah Chavez points out, the quality and authentic craftsmanship justify the investment — every bite tells the story of fresh ingredients, skillful grilling, and loving hospitality. If you’re craving an American burger experience that feels both nostalgic and freshly vibrant, Char-Hut is a destination worth savoring.
Very good but make sure to bring a hefty wallet as prices are expensive.
This is a family business. 32 years in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, it closed May 24th. They are looking to reopen again in Pembroke Pines. Can't wait, good luck. I hope to see you open soon.
This place was great! Excellent burgers and great people working there. I was going there for years. I just pulled in the parking lot, and noticed that they had closed down. I guess I will have to go to another location. thanks to the charhut crew at this location for making my experience great every time! .....Cedric
Great Burgers - can you believe, this is a Kid's Meal? Wow...and they do allow adults to order them. A full burger and fries is too much for me, so I order the Kid's Meal...PERFECT. They even cook the burger to your taste. Nice crispy fries and always hot and fresh because they don't pre-make them! I strongly recommend this place.
Been going to Char-Hut for many years. We love the great burgers , chicken sandwiches, cheese-fries , and the onion rings. Everything is freshly made in front of you and with your choice of toppings. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Definitely worth the price. :)
This place is more like a fast food restaurant, but with better and tastier food. You can actually see your food getting cooked and prepared to order, and then topped off with the ingredients that you like. The burgers we ordered were delicious. The staff was friendly and the service was quick.
